The vending machines will be installed for one night during the “First Thursday” party on August 1st. The theme for the night is miniatures, and that’s just what fits in a 2″ vending machine capsule. Get collectible work from:

What a beautiful night. We spent 7 hours talking with the people of Toronto about our art, and about ideas. Thank you everyone for the warm glow!
Artvendu Presents: The Northern Beaver Gallery’s Touch The Light.
Nuit Blanche 2012
In the Queen Street Alcove of the Edward Day Gallery at 952 Queen St. W.
Returning for a second year, artists Rebecca Houston, Doris Purchase and Adriana Monti use the Canadian-made Northern Beaver Vending Machines to play with light. Houston sets the vending machine aglow, a mother ship that will birth a wearable spark for you to carry off into the night. Purchase asks the question “Whose Art Is It?”, highlighting
craft and the work of the hand with a glow-in-the-dark button. Monti using the pages of an English Thesaurus plays with words and Le Siècle des Lumières ideas. For $2, you can participate in disseminating light, seeding the dark as the installation gradually
relinquishes the torch to be carried by many hands.
The next installation of the Northern Beaver Gallery will be at Sign/Signified, the juried art show for students of York’s Fine Arts Program. A group of very talented students will fill pods for the machine. You could own a piece by an up and coming artist for just a few bucks!
At Artscape Triangle Gallery, March 1st to 18th, reception March 8th, 6-9pm.
